SVJ Shotokan Karate Club was founded in January 2000 by GearĂ³id Quinn, training began at St. Vincent's GAA.
The club expanded to St. Joseph's Primary School (Joey's), Fairview, in September 2001 (SVJ stands for 'St Vincent - St Joseph').
Geroid quickly got the help of his accomplice James Mansfield to run the club.
James Mansfield founded his own club in 2010.
GearĂ³id retired from Karate in 2011, the current team of instructors (Steven Rees, Donal Phelan and Henri Piquet) have been running the club since.
The club is operated (and has always been) on a not-for-profit basis. We invest our time in the club, because we love Karate and we want to help people to discover it.
We do our best, so everybody enjoys their time with the club.
